EFCC arrests former House of Reps Deputy Speaker over N5.6bn fraud

Nwuche was a member of the House from 1999 to 2003 and also served as the Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) under former Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Represtatives, Chief Chibudom Nwuche, over an alleged N5.6 billion contract scam.

Nwuche was invited for interrogation and eventually detained by the EFCC on Monday, July 25, 2016, Punch reports.

“Nwuche is being investigated over an alleged N5.6bn contract which his company, Foundation for Youth Development, allegedly received from the Kingsley Kuku-led Presidential Amnesty Office,” an EFCC source said.

“He allegedly got three contracts from the Amnesty Office in 2012 for the training of ex-agitators in Malaysia. Up till now, nothing was done about the contract yet, he collected N2.8bn,” an investigator said.

Nwuche was a member of the House from 1999 to 2003 and also served as the Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) under former Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur.
