A popular Amala joint in Abuja one must visit

A popular Amala joint in Abuja, Matosh Kitchen, is said to always have their customers wash their plates themselves to be served food.

According to The Sun, the unique (or maybe weird) practice at Iya Oyo’s Amala joint called Matosh Kitchen is that able-bodied office men and women roll up their sleeves to wash plate at the eatery before being served. The Amala joint which is one of the most popular joints in Abuja is located at the Wuye District, which is just a two-minute drive from the Berger roundabout and about seven minutes from Area One roundabout.

The joint is said to be patronized by the high and mighty in Abuja. In fact, luxurious cars are seen parked around the joint every time of the day, especially during work hours, by sophisticated customers who just want to have a feel of the home-made local delicacies.

But in a new interview with Daily Trust, the owners of Matosh Iya Oyo Kitchen, Wuye, have said customers are not made to wash plates in the restaurant as against what was first reported by another media outfit. The owner, who preferred to be called Iya Oyo, said though the delicacies served in the restaurant were local, customers were not made to wash their plates. She said there were enough workers charged with that responsibility.

She said the only thing customers did was to join a queue which, she said, was normal as same was done in several supermarkets and eateries. One of the customers, Taiwo Hammed, who said he had been patronising the restaurant for more than four years, said the story about customers washing plates was false as he had never washed any plate at the place.

LOL, Naija for show. Which one person go believe now?
