Jibrin has disobeyed President Buhari - APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has come down hard on Abdulmumin Jibrin over his latest allegation against Speaker Yakubu Dogara

The party accused Jibrin of flouting its directive to hold the peace as investigations commence into the allegations he raised against the speaker

Jibrin had accused the speaker of conniving with some lawmakers and two governors to prevent him from seeing President Muhammadu Buhari

The All Progressives Congress (APC) seems not to be happy with Abdulmumin Jibrin, the legislator who exposed the budget padding scandal at the House of Representatives.

According to Jibrin, about N40 billion was illegally injected into the 2016 budget through line items not in the initial proposal.

The APC, through which Jibrin won the seat at the National Assembly, had last week barred him from further revealing details of the scandal which has put Speaker Yakubu Dogara and other principal officers of the House on the spot.

However, after some silence, the lawmaker made fresh allegations against Dogara, accusing him of conniving with two serving governors and four ex-lawmakers to block his access to President Muhammadu Buhari to explain his own side of the story.

In reaction, the acting national publicity secretary of the APC, Comrade Timi Frank, berated Jibrin.

In a statement issued Monday, August 8, 2016 in Abuja, the party said Jibrin lacked respect for the Senator Shuaibu Lawal-led committee empowered by the party to investigate the issue.

“It is now obvious how disrespectful, mannerless and desperate Hon Jibrin could be even to the leaders of our party which include the deputy national chairman (north), national secretary, national treasurer and others who have been sleeplessly working to ensure that peace returns to the House.

“But if Hon Jibrin does not have respect for Speaker Dogara as a person, it is expected of him to respect the office of the speaker, the number four citizen of our party and the country.

“Jibrin should also be told that he has clearly shown disrespect for President Muhammadu Buhari who is the leader of our party by this singular act.

“It is high time Hon Jibrin kept quite and stopped this public show of shame before his excesses will be made known to Nigerians and the whole world,” the party said.

“His continued show of shame does not only stop at him but has great negative impact on the party, its members and the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government.

“He should also be aware that disobeying the party in this manner may attract sanctions if the party deems it fit,” the party added.
