Bala reveals shocking details about Obasanjo

Bala Ibn Na’Allah a former member of the House of Representatives has attacked Olusegun Obasanjo

Bala said there were still men of integrity in the House

He revealed that he did not collect a N50 million naira bribe offered by Obasanjo for the third term bid

Bala Ibn Na’Allah the deputy Senate leader has revealed a shocking secret about former President Olusegun Obasanjo. He has also dared Obasanjo to prove his allegations of corruption against him as a member of the National Assembly.

Obasanjo had said on Monday, July 25, that the budget padding scandal in the House of Representatives confirmed his position that the National Assembly was filled with thieves.

Na’Allah who represents Kebbi south district, said in a statement on Tuesday, July 26, that he was quite unhappy with the impression that there were no men of integrity in the National Assembly.

He said: “I am respectfully taking exception to the statement which I express the hope is not true.

“To start with it is not in my character to join issues with an elder statesmen who have had the privilege of superintending over the affairs of our great country Nigeria.

“This exception has become necessary in view of the enormity of the alleged statement to my person and integrity.

“If former President Obasanjo can come out with one proven record of corruption against me as a person, I promise to vacate my seat as a senator of the federal republic of Nigeria.

“For the records, I was the only member from Kebbi state who did not find it worthy at that time of collecting the sum of N50 million as an inducement to subvert the constitution and provide a constitutional framework for the third term ambition of President Obasanjo.

“I find this statement if it is true to be reckless and terrifying.

“The implications of the statement is to say that the entire over 170 million Nigerians have not elected a single person with integrity among the 469 members of the National Assembly.

“This is definitely rhapsodic and does not conform to common sense and reason,” ,” the lawmaker said.

Bala was not the only one who came after the former President following Obasanjo’s statement about the House.

A chairman of the Senate Committee on Culture and Tourism, Senator Matthew Urhoghide (PDP, Edo South), said the Senate deserves and demands an unreserved apology from Obasanjo for casting aspersions and denigrating their individual integrity.

“I believe former President Obasanjo has premised his denigrating comment on the on-going sordid accusations on 2016 budget between Hon Abdumumuni Jibrin, the erstwhile chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations and the leadership of the House of Representatives. What is going on in the media is indeed disgraceful if actually the mentioned House members did the padding of the 2016 budget,” he said.
