Buhari is shielding Amaechi, other ministers on corruption – PDP

The opposition party accused the president of harbouring corrupt persons in his cabinet

The PDP alleged that Fashola, Amaechi and Ngige are corrupt and should be probed

The opposition Peoples Democratic Parrty (PDP) in the Lagos state has supposed that President Muhammadu Buhari is shielding his ministers from corruption charges.

In th statement issued on July 24, the PDP said that Buhari was obviously shielding some of his ‘corrupt’ ministers because of their financial contributions to his election.

The party accused the president himself, of only simulating to be corruption-free, noting that the country’s leader should make himself available for live question and answer, if indeed he was very sure of not harbouring corrupt people as ministers.

It alleged that the likes of the minster of Works, Power and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, his colleague in the Ministry of Transportation,  Rotimi Amaechi, and that of Labour, Dr. Chris Ngige,  had corruption charges hanging on their necks.

The statement reads: “These are in the public glare and we are surprised that the president exhibits volte-face on these matters.

“For instance, Fashola has many corruption petitions against him during and after his tenure as governor of Lagos state.

“Groups such as  True Face of Lagos, CACOL and  individuals  have their petitions unattended to by the authorities.

“The reported outcome of enquiry, which indicted Rotimi Amaechi, of unaccounted sum of N3 trillion, when he was governor of Rivers state, is lying unattended to by the authorities and Chris Ngige’s self-confession, about his practice at the Okija shrine, is still fresh.

“It is our further assertion that the financial contributions of these particular ministers account for why President Buhari continues to harbour them.”

Preident Buhari recently restated that none of his ministers had any case in court before they were appointed.

The president also extended the same clearance to senior government officials, who were being tarred with the brush of corruption without any concrete evidence.
