Aisha Buhari says she had to respond to the false allegations raised against her by Governor Fayose by taking him to court
– Says Fayose’s attacks on President Buhari began during the 2015 campaign and extended to her after Buhari won the 2015 presidential election
– Discloses that her visit to the United States of America is to hold discussions with aid organizations how to help the women and children facing starvation in the north eastern part of Nigeria Aisha Buhari says the constant attacks on her by Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state, prompted her to drag the governor to court.
Mrs. Buhari in an interview with the Hausa service of the Voice of America (VOA) on Saturday, August 6, said she had to respond to the false allegations raised against her by Fayose by taking him to court. She said Fayose’s attacks on President Buhari began during the 2015 campaign, adding that the insults extending to her after Buhari won the 2015 presidential election. She said:
“At the time, he was not the only one insulting us, but people felt that it was just campaign. “After the election, which we won and they lost, everyone else moved on except him and he extended his insults to me. “I did not run for president. I am a married woman and I have never called his name. I never knew him. But as governor and chief executive, he kept insulting and raising false allegations against me, I have to respond and I decided to go to court.
“He made allegations over what he said I did here in the US, even though I have never met the people he mentioned.” On her trip to the United States of America, Aisha said she was on a week-long visit to hold discussions with aid organizations on how to help the women and children facing starvation in the north eastern part of Nigeria.
Meanwhile, the Arewa Youth Integrity Forum (AYIF) has asked Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state, to immediately apologies to the Buhari family after he claimed Mrs Buhari was a fugitive from justice in the US over the Halliburton scandal.
The group made the statement following the visit of Hajia Aisha Buhari, wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, to the United States of America. According to a report by Vanguard, AYIF national president, Comrade Abubakar Ibrahim said this visit by the President’s wife is a further proof that Fayose lied in his claim about Mrs Buhari.
