As reports of Christians been killed for various reasons in northern Nigeria continue to surface, Edison Daminabo, the Rivers state overseer of Deeper Christian Life Ministry has spoken out to Christians across the country.

The Rivers state overseer of Deeper Christian Life has called on Christians in the North not to avenge the killings of their brethren, describing the killings as a blessing to the faith.

While speaking in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, August 30, he pointed out that the killing of men of God in the North by suspected Muslim extremists was just for a while, adding that the Christian faith would thrive.

He spoke while briefing newsmen ahead of the visit of the Deeper Christian Life general superintendent, Pastor William Kumuyi, for a crusade tagged, ‘Rivers Double Portion’ in the state capital on Saturday.

According to Vanguard, Daminabo while saying that it was not in the place of Christians to carry out revenge attacks, also said that it was not ordinary that people would take up arms against men of God, maintaining that the act would only strengthen Christianity in the nation.

He concluded that God would revenge the killings of his people in due time, stressing that any Christian that takes up the fight will lose heaven.

“Sometimes, killing is a blessing. We will not revenge, because we don’t fight for God. Any Christian that fights back will not make heaven. The crusade is the vanguard that will bring relief to the people of the state. It will take care of the kidnapping and killings in the state,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in 19 Northern states and Abuja, have condemned the recent killings and religious radicalism at the Zamfara College of Education by some students of the Islamic faith.

They, called on government to ensure that Christian students at secondary and higher institutions in the North were given full protection from any form of molestation.
