Femi Fani-Kayode says the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) does not need a weakling as its new national chairman
He says the next chairman must be a courageous fighter that will not back down from challenges
Fani-Kayode believes all these qualities will go a long way in determining the fate of the party
Former minister of aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode has listed the essential qualities that the next national chairman of opposition Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) must have.
Fani-Kayode, who was speaking ahead of the party’s national convention which is slated for August 17, said that at this critical juncture of the party’s history, what it needs is a strong leader who will not back down from challenges.
To him, the new chairman that will lead the opposition against a strong ruling party like the All Progressives Congress (APC) must not be a weakling, instead he must be strong, courageous and a fighter.
The PDP stalwart and media director of former president, Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign team at the last presidential elections made this submission on his Twitter handle on Thursday.
“I hope that the PDP will not make the mistake of electing a weakling as Chairman. We need a fighter: someone that is courageous and strong,” he said.
Meanwhile, the race for the PDP top job continues with media mogul, Raymond Dokpesi touring the different states in the country, canvassing for votes. Also in the race is Lagos PDP stalwart, Olabode George, who has the blessings of the board of the state branch.
We recalls that just on Wednesday, August 3, Fani-Kayode, who has remained ever-controversial, had accused Christians living in the country of allowing President Muhammadu Buhari to achieve an alleged Islamisation agenda.
