Ngige booed for defending Buhari's appointments

Since assuming the office of Nigeria’s president Buhari is accused of sectionalism in his appointments

However, his cabinet of ministers defends the presidents decisions

During the town hall meeting in Enugu Minister Ngige was booed over defending Buhari’s appointments

Chris Ngige, the minister of labour and productivity, was on August 1, Monday booed in south-west town hall meeting as he was defending President Muhammadu Buhari’s appointments.

Daily Post reports that the president has been facing the criticism over his appointments since he was inaugurated on May 2015 as they are considered to be totally lopsided.

The south-east states, which have no representation among the service chiefs, have continued to moan over the development.

The sectional appointment became the epicenter of the discussion at the town hall meeting organized by the federal government at the Nike Lake Resort, Enugu.

Also in the front burner was the matter of the Chief Ike Ekweremadu, deputy Senate president, as the Ohanaeze Ndigbo pledged to resist any move by a certain cabal to replace him.

While labour minister struggled to persuade the gathering, they repeatedly shouted “No oooo” to him.

Ngige had tried to defend the country’s president by noting that anyone in position of authority would work with people he could trust.

He quoted Enugu state as an example, stating mistakenly that the chief of staff to Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi must be from Nsukka, the governor’s zone.

Meanwhile, the people of South-East at the meeting faulted him immediately, claiming that Governor Ugwuanyi’s chief of staff was from Abia state and not Nsukka.
