Okonjo-Iweala has strong ties with the Clintons. For instance, she was a part of the panel at the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) meeting in New York on September 27, 2015, where the issues on global financing and impact were discussed.
The then minister participated in a session of the CGI in September 2014 as well.
