In Oyo EFCC's case on N8bn CBN scam suffers hitch in court

The plea bargaining in the EFCC's case against Oni Ademola has suffered a hitch in a Federal High Court in Ibadan.

Justice Joyce Abdulmaleek of the Federal High Court, Ibadan, on Wednesday  adjourned till Oct. 6 hearing on the plea bargaining arrangement between one Oni Ademola and the EFCC.

Abdulmaleek adjourned the case earlier slated for hearing due to the inability of EFCC and the fourth accused person, Ademola, to conclude the bargaining agreement in time.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the EFCC during Monday’s proceeding announced that Ademola had agreed to enter into a plea bargaining arrangement with the commission.

Counsel to the EFCC, Adebisi Adeniyi, told the court that the arrangement would have been completed before Wednesday’s hearing.

Adeniyi, however, apologised to the court for the inability of the two parties to complete the arrangement because there was an important piece of information that the commission had just got.

He added that the piece of information must be included in the plea bargaining agreement before its presentation to the court.
