Kanu said since the “unfortunate” incident, his relatives have remained under detention.
He said, since their arrest, the DSS have also denied his relatives, access to their lawyers and any form of visitation from family members or even charged to court for any offences.

“This unfortunate incident took place on the 30the day of August 2016, we have carefully obtained and shall at the appropriate time and forum present to the whole world the evidence of claims articulated in this letter,” Ejiofor said.
He urged the minister of interior and the comptroller general of prison to thoroughly investigate the listed allegations and adopt appropriate measures to ensure the safety of Kanu and his visitors.
“It will be unfortunate if law-abiding citizens who visit our client cannot be assured of their safety on the grounds of the prison facility.
“It is the right of everyone on a visit to the prison to be protected against intimidation, assault and a host of other right-infringing acts while on the grounds of the prison. We hope this letter is given immediate and urgent attention and necessary actions set in motion,” Ejiofor concluded.
