President Buhari mourns Olorogun Michael Ibru

President Muhammadu Buhari has reacted to the death of Olorogun Micheal Ibru

The president said Ibru will be remembered for his hardwork and dedication to entrepreneurship

President Buhari urged members of his family to honour his memory by constantly upholding the values of selfless-service, he promoted through his successful career in the private sector

President Muhammadu Buhari expressed sadness over the demise of Olorogun Michael Ibru.

The president in a statement issued on Wednesday, September 7, by his spokesman, Femi Adesina, extended his sincere commiseration to the family and the government and people of delta State and the Urhobos in particular on the passage of their illustrious son and patriarch of the Ibru family.

He urged members of his family and all who mourn to honour his memory by constantly upholding the values of selfless-service, inter-ethnic harmony, knowledge and perseverance, which he passionately promoted through his successful career in the private sector.

”President Muhammadu Buhari extends sincere condolences to the family of Olorogun Michael Ibru, who passed away on Tuesday, aged 85.

President Buhari equally commiserates with the government and people of Delta State and the Urhobos in particular on the passage of their illustrious son and patriarch of the Ibru family.

The president joins them in mourning an accomplished businessman whose edifying role in the corporate world and private sector in Nigeria would continue to inspire generations to come.

President Buhari believes that Michael Ibru will be long remembered for his hardwork and dedication to entrepreneurship, which opened doors of opportunities to many Nigerians and associates who came in contact with his investments in the banking, aviation, tourism and manufacturing sectors.

The president urges members of his family and all who mourn Olorogun Ibru to honour his memory by constantly upholding the values of selfless-service, inter-ethnic harmony, knowledge and perseverance, which he passionately promoted through his successful career in the private sector.

The president prays that God Almighty will grant his soul eternal rest.”

Olorogun Michael Ibru, the well known patriarch of the Ibru family and chairman of the huge Ibru organization,  died at the age of 86 years after a protracted illness in Florida, USA.

Born to the family of Peter Ibru, a missionary worker. His father, Peter Ibru also worked at the Igbobi Orthapaedic Hospital, Lagos.

The Ibru organization is one of the largest conglomerates in Nigeria. It was established in 1956 and has interests in shipping, agriculture, aviation, banking, oil and gas.
