Wike says Amaechi squandered the money of the people of Rivers state to sponsor elections in other places.

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state has accused his predecessor, now transport minister, Rotimi Amaechi, of squandering the money of the people of the state to sponsor elections in other places.

According to Sahara reporters, Wike speaking on Sunday, October 30, during the 10th anniversary thanksgiving service of the Omega Power Ministry in Port Harcourt and the harvest thanksgiving of Saint Luke Anglican Church, Rumuadaolu, blamed Amaechi’s administration for the infrastructural decay in Rivers state.

Wike said Amaechi’s eight years of “misrule” that made it impossible for the former governor to construct a road even to the hometown of Amaechi’s political mentor, Chief Godspower Ake of the APC.

He said his administration started the process of infrastructural development afresh because the preceding administration of Amaechi squandered the resources that accrued to the state in its eight years in charge.

“For eight years, at a time that the state got approximately N20billion monthly, that administration failed to develop critical infrastructure,” he stated.

The governor called on the people of Rivers state pray for God to handle those working with outsiders to disrupt the political process and deny the Rivers people representation in the Senate.

Meanwhile, Rotimi Amaechi has denied fresh allegations leveled against him by a Supreme Court Judge, Justice Sylvester Ngwuta.

Recall that Ngwuta had alleged Amaechi demanded that he influenced the judgement on behalf of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

His claim came barely three days after Justice John Inyang Okoro, also a Supreme Court Judge, alleged that former Rivers Governor and now transport minister, Rotimi Amaechi, reached out to him overelection appeal cases for Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Abia States.

But Amaechi has described the allegations as dubious.
