Delta community cries out to Fashola after 10 years without light

People of Aniocha in Delta state Nigeria have cried out over lack of power in their community

Mr Austine Eneduwa-George, a member of the APC speaking for them said the power outage had lasted 10 years

He urged the Minister of Power, Babatunde Fashola to look into the problem

The Aniocha people of Delta state have cried out for help after 10 years without power in their community. Mr Austine Eneduwa-George a member of All Progressives Congress (APC), in Delta state, has therefore called on the minister of power, works and housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola, to help them.

Mr Eneduwa-George pleaded with Fashola to come to the rescue of  the Aniocha people as they lamented a power outage that has lasted over 10 years.

While addressing newsmen in Lagos,  Eneduwa-George pleaded with the minister of power, asking him to save the community from the prolonged power outage.

He said: “The protest in Ogwashi-Uku was due to the fact that we have not had power supply in Aniocha for over 10 years while other communities in Delta State are enjoying the labour of the minister.

“In a town, where former Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okojo- Iweala’s father is the king, the road network is horrible.

“More so, my people are continually complaining, because they are not seeing the impact of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, representative of Aniocha South in Delta State House of Assembly. There is no sign of Aniocha having a representative in the House.”

The electricity situation in Nigeria, needs a lot of work as was shown recently by a somewhat ironic event. Fashola was embarrassed when power went off as he mounted the podium to speak at ‘Power Nigeria’ conference at the Eko hotel in Lagos.

Meanwhile, Fashola, has stated that no new contract for the construction or rehabilitation of federal roads will be awarded by his ministry.

The minister explained the decision, saying there was an abundance of existing uncompleted and unpaid contracts (for 206 roads at about N2 trillion naira) awarded by past administrations.
