I will ensure every corrupt Nigerian pays dearly - Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari met with the Nigerian community in Berlin, Germany and spoke about his government

The president, who went with some officials of his government and members of the National Assembly, promised to tackle corruption

President Muhammadu Buhari has declared that his war against corruption would be stiffer adding that no Nigerian who looted the country would get away with it.

The president is currently slugging it out with the National Judicial Council (NJC) over the arrest of some alleged corrupt judges by the Department of State Services (DSS) across the country.

Speaking in Berlin at an interactive session with representatives of the Nigerian community in Germany, Buhari said: “If you work hard and get your money, we will try and see how much tax you can pay us, but to take money from government and get away with it, no more!”

Vanguard reports Buhari as further assuring that his government would recognise hard-working Nigerians.

He said the government would do this by strengthening critical institutions needed for sustainable development and prosperity.

He said: “We are working hard to empower our institutions especially our educational institutions.

“If you educate a person that is the best you can do for him but if not you make him susceptible to religious, ethnic, negative thinking and action.

“Nigerians are virtually supporting us in our fight against corruption, security and the economy.”
