In Imo APC suspends Commissioner, LG chair

The commissioner and other party chiefs were said to have disobeyed the party's constitution and authorities.

The Ahiazu Mbaise, Imo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has reportedly suspended some party chiefs following an unresolved crisis.

The state's Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Chidi Ibe, and the Transition Committee Chairman of the local government area, Chief Cletus Onwuegbule, were said to have been suspended over  alleged indiscipline and disobedience to the party's constitution and authorities.

The party leaders had on Sunday, October 16, boycotted a meeting summoned by the commissioner and attended another meeting convened by a local government area party chairman, Mr Ifeanyi Eke.

Speaking to newsmen, the APC leaders said they shunned the meeting because the Commissioner did not follow due process, which would make such gathering illegal.

They, therefore, invoked the party’s constitution against him and Onwuegbule, including other erring members of the party.

According to a chieftain of the party, Nze Kevin Nwoko, APC members in the local government will not associate with the commissioner until he clears himself of the alleged disobedience to the constituted party authorities in the area.

However, the 'suspended' LGA transition committee chairman, Onwuegbule, discredited the suspension, saying he and the commissioner are focused on helping Governor Rochas Okorocha to develop the state.
