Oyegun to be removed as APC chairman

There is a ploy to remove Chief Oyegun as the chairman of APC allegedly by Tinubu

The secretary to the federal government who is loyal to the APC chieftain has denied the report

The plot to remove Chief John Odigie-Oyegun as chairman of the All Progressives Congress is thickening as there are reports he will be named as an ambassador soon.

Vanguard reports that some insiders in the party are accusing the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal of working with the Asiwaju Bola Tinubu camp to remove the chairman.

Lawal is reportedly urging President Muhammadu Buhari to remove Oyegun and replace him with someone else.

He has however denied the allegation insisting it was the president’s duty to appoint ambassadors.

“I do not know anything about the chairman’s ambassadorial as such are made by the president. Did you see his name on the list read out on the floor of the Senate.”

The plot to remove Oyegun has been criticised by those loyal to him as an attempt to hijack power before 2015.

It will be recalled that a few weeks ago, Tinubu through his media aide called for the resignation of Oyegun over anti-party conduct.

The former governor of Lagos state allegedly accused Oyegun of sabotaging the will of democracy in Ondo state by sending the name of Rotimi Akeredolu to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) against the decision of the appeal panel that demanded for a fresh governorship primary election in the party for the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

In the communique, Tinubu reportedly alleged that Oyegun’s subversion of the will of the people proved that he must have been under the influence of a powerful and sinister arm at work.
