Ummi Ibrahim Zeezee, an actress in the northern part of Nigeria, recently got the internet buzzing with claims she was married to Ibrahim Babangida

The former head of state has remained silent over the issue, but his family members are speaking about the issue

Nigerian actress, Ummi Ibrahim Zeezee, may have lied against former head of state, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, popularly known as IBB after she claimed she was engaged to the Minna, Niger state-born general.

The Hausa actress had reportedly taken to her Instagram page to shower praises on the former military leader who she called her fiance.

The Nigerian actress used various romantic words like 'Dear fiancé', 'heart beat', 'handsome', 'lovable and charming'” to describe the former military president on her recent posts on the medium.

But reacting, family members of the septuagenarian told NAIJ.com in separate interviews that Babangida was not prepared to marry at his age.

The family members of the former head of state said all he cares about at this time is for the welfare of his children and the happiness of his grandchildren.

"Why would Babangida be thinking of marriage in any case? The man loved and still loves his late wife and would never contemplate re-marrying, not at this point in time," one of his family members says.

The family member who pleaded not to be named said it was very easy for people to be attracted to men of Babangida's calibre.

Another member of the family said he was not sure that Babangida is aware of what the actress was saying or what the was reported about her.

"Babangida is not interested in any marriage and he has constantly mentioned that to whoever cares to listen. So why would anyone take the actress seriously?" She said.

Contacted, Turaki Yahaya Abubakar, the spokesperson to Muhammed, son of the former head of state, said it was not true that Babangida was contemplating marriage or any relationship.

He said the retired general was more interested in building a strong Nigeria through his role as a statesman rather than marriage.

"He is not interested in marrying anybody now. What he is interested in is a more developed Nigeria, his life here on earth and hereafter, as well as his family," he said.
