Senator Dino Melaye says that Nigerian women are very special and endowed
He says the women should belong in the presidency and not only in the kitchen
The Kogi lawmaker says that leaders of the country including himself, have failed their generation, the youths and the Nigerian people
Senator Dino Melaye, lawmaker representing Kogi West Senatorial District in Senate, has said that Nigerian women are very special and well endowed.
According to him, the women are meant for the kitchen alone, Vanguard reports
Senator Dino Melaye says that Nigerian women are special, endowed and they should belong in the presidency and not only in the kitchen
Melaye made this known while speaking with youths at the Nasarawa state university, Keffi.
He urged Nigerian women to stand up and always do the right thing.
He said: “Our women must stand and always do the right thing. The women of this country are very special and well endowed, and I do not agree that your place is in only the kitchen. Your place is even in the presidency. And I want to assure you that with the support of everyone, you will get to your landmark.”
Also addressing the issue of leadership in Nigeria, Senator Melaye said that the leaders of the country including himself, have failed their generation, the youths and the Nigerian people.
On the Change mantra of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government, he said: “Change begins with the leaders and leaders must lay a very fundamental positive example for the youths to copy and must provide for the poor, as well as do the right thing always.
“Democracy is government of the people, by the people and for the people; we should never allow it to become ‘greediocracy’. Greediocracy is government of the greedy, by the greedy and for the greedy.”
President Muhammadu Buhari has been heavily criticized for saying his wife, Aisha, belongs in his kitchen, living room and other room, in response to the first lady’s public criticism of the president’s appointments on Friday, October 14.
In an interview with BBC, Aisha Buhari said the president had abandoned those who worked to bring him to power, and suggested the government had been hijacked by a few individuals who now wield sweeping powers.
She said: “He is yet to tell me if he’ll seek re-election— but I have decided as his wife, that if things continue like this up to 2019, I will not go out and campaign again and ask any woman to vote like I did before. I will never do it again.”
But in a swift response during a joint press conference with German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, in Berlin, Buhari said his wife should be taking care of his kitchen, living room and the “other room” —meaning his bedroom.
He said: “I don’t know which party my wife belongs to, but she belongs to my kitchen and my living room and the other room.”
