Nigerian soldiers kill two Boko Haram Commanders

Troops prevent terrorists from launching possible attack

Suspected remnants of insurgents are in dire need of food

Nigerian soldiers under the code name Operation Lafia Dole have killed two top Boko Haram terrorist Commanders as well as a good number of other insurgents at Darul Jamel on the fringes of Sambisa forest in Borno.

The acting director, army public relations, Col Sani Kukasheka Usman made this known in a statement he issued at Abuja, the nation’s capital. Usman said the successful operation happened after the Nigerian soldiers had successfully prevented a possible assault on the troop’s base.

The army public relations officer stated: “The terrorists attempted to storm the troops’ location, but paid dearly.

“Prior to the attack, the troops of the same unit on routine patrol earlier, cleared an ambush staged by elements of the suspected remnants of the terrorists desperate for food, near Banki Junction.

‪“It is equally believed that the attack and ambush might not be unconnected to the fact that the terrorists were desperately targeting over 890 rescued herdsmen with their 5000 livestock being held captives by terrorists along Nigerian borders with Cameroon.”

The army image maker informed that items recovered from the terrorist group were one Light Machine Gun with Registration number 56M-1101229 in addition to an AK-47 rifle magazine.

The army spokesman said in addition to the above, the troops recovered Rocket Propelled Grenade bomb, one top cover of an AK-47 rifle, 395 rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition as well as 15 rounds of 5.5mm by .45 ammunition.

Audu Musa, a humanitarian worker in the insurgency ravaged Northeast state of Borno, said the Boko Haram humanitarian problem could take at least another 10 years before they are solved based on the indices and magnitude of cases on ground especially at different liberated areas.
